Peer Review Process

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Overview The Journal of Biomedical Sciences and Health (JBSH) employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, validity, and integrity of all published research.

Review System: Double-Blind Peer Review To ensure an objective and unbiased evaluation:

  • Reviewers are not informed of the authors' identities or institutional affiliations.

  • Authors are not informed of the reviewers' identities.

Review Process

1. Initial Screening Upon submission, the editorial team conducts an initial screening to assess:

  • Adherence to the journal's aims, scope, and author guidelines.

  • Originality, checked via plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin).

  • Basic quality and formatting requirements.

  • Timeline: 1-2 weeks

2. Peer Review Assignment Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two (2) independent, qualified reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.

  • Timeline: 1 week

3. Reviewer Evaluation Reviewers assess the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and significance of the research.

  • Soundness of methodology and research design.

  • Accuracy of results and data analysis.

  • Quality of presentation, writing, and logical flow.

  • Relevance to the journal's scope.

  • Timeline: 4 weeks

4. Editorial Decision Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or assigned Section Editor makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without further revisions.

  • Minor Revisions: Small corrections are required before acceptance.

  • Major Revisions: Substantial changes are required, and the revised manuscript may be subject to a second round of peer review.

  • Reject: The manuscript does not meet the scientific or ethical standards for publication in JBSH.

  • Timeline: 1 week after receiving all reviewer reports

5. Revision and Re-submission Authors are given the opportunity to revise their manuscript according to the reviewers' comments.

  • Timeline for revision: 2-4 weeks (depending on the extent of the revisions required)

6. Final Decision Revised manuscripts are evaluated by the editor and, if necessary (especially for major revisions), may be sent back to the original reviewers for further assessment.

Total Timeline Expected time from submission to the first editorial decision: Approximately 6-8 weeks.
