Similarity Screening and Plagiarism Policy
Similarity Screening and Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of Biomedical Sciences and Health (JBSH) requires all submissions to be original and properly attributed. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, text recycling without transparent citation, data or image manipulation, and misappropriation of ideas are unacceptable.
Screening process
All manuscripts may be screened with Turnitin before peer review and again when editorially necessary. A similarity report is an editorial screening aid, not an automatic decision. Editors assess the location, source, context, citation, and nature of every match. Bibliographies, standard methodological wording, properly quoted material, preprints, and unavoidable technical terms are considered contextually.
Editorial thresholds
JBSH does not apply a single percentage as an automatic acceptance or rejection rule. A manuscript with substantial unattributed overlap may be rejected even when the overall score is low, while a higher score may be explainable by references or legitimate standard phrases. When overlap appears correctable, the editor may request revision and a response from the authors. Suspected serious or systematic plagiarism is handled under the journal's Publication Ethics policy and relevant COPE guidance.
Author responsibilities
Authors must submit original work, cite and quote sources accurately, disclose related manuscripts and preprints, obtain permission for copyrighted material, and explain any reuse of their own previously disseminated material. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time is prohibited.
Post-publication concerns
Credible concerns raised after publication will be investigated fairly. Depending on the evidence, JBSH may publish a correction, expression of concern, or retraction and may notify relevant institutions when appropriate. Authors are given an opportunity to respond, and decisions are based on the documented record rather than the similarity score alone.
Questions or concerns should be sent to the JBSH Editorial Office through https://ejournal.unkaha.ac.id/index.php/jbsh/about/contact
